A Year to Help
Cordelia
Cordelia... in your little boat of hope
Cordelia... now you sail the seas
If light can raise a flower in the sunshine
You are passing gently on the breeze...
Cordelia... now the hands of time caress you
And the pictures tell your story to the world
Safe now... in the Rembrandt tender colour
Sleep little one...peace for you my girl
Cordelia... hours and miles they mean so little
Cordelia... you were waiting for your time
To sail away and leave your fear forever
To see the darkness falling far behind...
Cordelia... in your little boat of hope
Cordelia... now you sail the seas
If light can raise a flower in the sunshine
You are passing gently on the breeze...
Cordelia... in your little boat of hope
Cordelia... now you sail the seas...

I've been reading Martin Usborne's blog 'A Year to Help' and his journey is an inspiration. This is where I found the story of Cordelia the Cow-Dog. Sadly not long after reading about the little blind pup's plight there was an update to say Cordelia had been put to sleep as her quality of life was very poor.
Cordelia's story touched our hearts deeply. She was a stray dog that life had not been kind to, although she was brought into the Ark shelter in India following an attack by another dog, Cordelia found it hard to trust people and kept her distance. Each day must have been an ordeal for her and she had only a brief time in the sunshine.
This song is a gift to Martin in thanks for his efforts to help Cordelia. He tried to make life better for her while he was at the shelter and brought back the pictures that captured our hearts - and in doing so he has made sure Cordelia will never be forgotten.
