FOZZIE BEAR'S STORY

We were asked to write a song by a US animal advocate to raise awareness of the cruel fate of puppies and dogs bred for profit in puppy mills and farms.

Puppy farms are 'factory' style breeding kennels where dogs are bred over and over throughout the whole of their lives, with little or no regard for their welfare. Dogs kept in the unnatural surroundings of puppy farms often produce sick and underweight puppies that are not socialised and many are born with congenital diseases. Unscrupulous breeders send these pups to pet shops to be sold.

If you buy a puppy from a pet store you are helping to perpetuate a miserable existence for the dogs and puppies bred in these often unhygienic environments, and your money will be supporting a business that causes the suffering of these poor dogs to continue.

This song was written to appeal to the younger generation and a DVD was created by friends of Fozzie Bear to share with school children in America to help raise awareness.

Please don't shop, adopt!

Sweet little Fozzie Bear died at barely 17 weeks old in his rescuers arms, his heart was enlarged.

Fozzie's mother is sadly still in a puppy mill.

Please help to stop this cruelty, say NO to puppy mills and press for regulations and laws to monitor and control the breeding of dogs.

The UK also has a puppy farm problem -

'Fozzie Bear's Story'

Hello my name is Fozzie bear
I live up here in heaven's clouds
I only lived a little while
I died in someone special's arms
Oh she was good and kind to me
And she told me I was very sweet
Oh she cared for me and I was brave
I really wish I could have stayed

But I was born in a puppy mill
My mom and me were very ill
My friends and I we felt so sad
To live without a human hand...

Puppy mills are very cold
And in the summer there is no shade
Whoever made a puppy mill
Never had a waggy tail
Puppy mills are much too small
They are not happy homes, I know
They are not friendly, only walls
And little pups they cannot grow

But I was born in a puppy mill
My mom and me were very ill
My friends and I we felt so sad
To live without a human hand...

Some people buy a pretty pup
And take him home then give him up
Sometimes the pups are very ill
Because they came from a puppy mill
This is my story it is true
I'm telling you so you will know
Please do not buy, but give a home
To dogs in shelters all alone

Cos I was born in a puppy mill
My mom and me were very ill
My friends and I we felt so sad
To live without a human hand...

Unwanted dogs end up in rescue shelters because of backyard breeding, all forms of irresponsible overbreeding and lack of spay/neuter, please support your local shelter!

Thank you
