Bion was only 3 years old but in his short life he had been hurt beyond repair. Bion had been used as a bait dog.

Bion, whose name means 'life', spent his happiest days in the final few weeks of his life when he was safe at last as a resident of Loving Homes Dog Rescue. Tragically, his little body had grown tired of repairing itself and he passed away before he was able to find a loving home of his own.

Loving Homes Dog Rescue wanted to do something memorable in Bion's name and they planned to begin working towards ‘Bion's Law’. Paul and I decided a song would help to raise awareness of their campaign to highlight the need for greater protection of animals at risk from cruelty. They told us Bion's tail was always wagging and he was full of fun, he didn't let his pain stop him from enjoying the great times he had in rescue, alongside his good friend Bubs. So Bion's song is deliberately happy and upbeat just like him and you can see a little of the inspiration for Bion's song in this video where Bion and Bubs are racing around having a fine old time chasing each other and playing without a care in the world.






'Bion's Law'

Well times were hard and I was down on my luck
But a cheeky little lad keeps his courage up

I'd wag my tail to get rid of the sad
Someone will come and take me out of this place

You know I'm only young but I got my friends

They helped me through and now I know why I came
There's gonna be a law written in my name!

I wag my tail and run free and play
I think of those who cared and I know I'm loved
