HYMN TO THE VOICELESS

(Maria Daines/Paul Killington)

A hymn for all living beings, human and non-human, for those who have their liberty taken from them and who remain at the mercy of others, enchained when they should be free.

Our thanks to Janice Tyrrell for creating the amazing poster art work for Hymn to the Voiceless and special thanks to Pete McGregor whose original photograph inspired the visual theme to this song.

'Hymn to the Voiceless'

I'm full up with tears
Cut up and wounded
Bent double with fear
Too hard to go on
I follow the trail
Broken by horror
Pray to be safe
Cut down to the bone...

I cower for peace
I cry like a savage
Utter no words
No song shall I sing
I long to be heard
My heart ever ravaged
Shallow this life
This fight never won...

Let there be love
Freedom abounding
Let there be heroes
Peace in my time
Sorrow be gone
Voiceless I'm falling
Hold me forever and ever
Let me belong

I worried the chains
Worked for my chattels
Held tight to my dream
Worn frayed by their hands
Too many are lost
Wretched to battle
Pray 'til they're gone
Won't weary alone...

I roar at the pain
Guided by demons
Captured, enslaved
Cold winter my home
Mere mortal to bleed
Stand tall for the beating
They shall not win
This glory forlorn

Let there be love
Freedom abounding
Let there be heroes
Peace in my time
Sorrow be gone
Voiceless I'm falling
Hold me forever and ever
Let me belong...
